1.4. How do I qualify for benefits?
Benefits are offered to all employees who work a minimum of 32 hours per week.
1.5. Do you offer travel opportunities?

Whether you are looking for a travel adventure or comfortable in your own community, we can find you a rewarding position at some of the country’s finest facilities.
2. Getting Started (9)
2.1. What are the requirements to become a Med National Staffing partner?
Healthcare professionals must have a year of recent experience in the area of clinical practice, as well as a license for the state in which they’ll practice. If you are interested in a travel opportunity and do not have a license for a particular state, we can guide you through the licensing process.
2.2. Can I send my resume in place of the application?
Your application is more than a resume; it helps us understand your specialties and skills so we can match you with the best assignment. We need your application completed, signed and returned to us. Some facilities do require a resume; for this reason, we encourage you to include one as well. If you don’t have one available, we will help you create one.
2.3. How long will it take to approve my application and find an assignment?
Once your application and medical clearance is complete, you could begin a local assignment immediately and a travel assignment within four weeks.
2.4. Do I need to get a physical exam as part of the application process?
No. However, once you have accepted an assignment, a facility may require a medical or drug screen prior to your first shift. Your staffing manager will help you with any additional requirements a facility may have.
2.5. Will you contact my current employer?
We will never contact your current employer without your expressed permission. Just place a reminder note in your application if you prefer we not contact your employer during the application process.
2.6. Am I under any obligation once I submit my application?
Absolutely not. Your application is simply used to qualify you and match you with assignments. You are never required to work or accept any assignment that does not meet your expectations.
2.7. How do I actually get a job?
You and your staffing manager will determine the position that best matches your skills, experience and desired location. MNS will then submit your profile to our client. Your profile is your application, work history and professional credentials. Because your profile represents you and is the key to obtaining a position, it is best to include as much work history and experience as possible. Please include any written performance evaluations, letters of reference, certificates of accomplishment or other recognitions when you return your application.
If a phone interview is required, we will set that up for you. During the interview, both you and the representative of the facility should be asking questions to determine if it will be a good match. Often the job offer is made during the interview. It is critical to contact your staffing manager as soon as your interview is complete.
2.8. Do you utilize independent contractors (form 1099)?
Yes. Independent contractors must provide all required documentation along with proof of insurance at the time of hire.
2.9. Is there a typical length of assignment?
Assignment length depends on your scheduling preferences. Full-time assignments generally run for 13 weeks and can be renewed indefinitely. They range from 36 hours per week, up to 40 hours with overtime. Shift times can vary based on the needs of the facility.
Part-time contracts are customized to both the facility and the medical professional. Per-diem shifts can be booked as late as the same day or much further in advance. In our experience, it is typically one month in advance.
3. Credentials (4)
3.1. As an RN, do I need a license for each state??
You need a license for every state in which you work, and every state has different requirements. Contact each state’s Board of Nursing for an application. Your staffing manager can assist you during this process.
3.2. Who is responsible for getting my professional license?
Your staffing manager can assist you along the way, but ultimately, the responsibility for obtaining the license is yours.
3.3. Why do I have to update my skills checklist?
Keeping an updated resume and checklist will help us get you the placements best suited to your specialties and interest.
3.4. Can I download a checklist and mail it to you?
Yes. Skills checklist forms are available on our website for your convenience. If you are an employee, please update your checklist regularly. If you are a prospective employee, please include a checklist with your resume or bring it with you to your interview.
4. Scheduling (4)
4.1. Who is responsible for getting my professional license?
Four to 16 hour shifts are available, and vary based the needs of each facility.
4.2. How do I book shifts with Med National Staffing?
We offer a variety of ways to schedule your shifts. When you join MSN, we will put together a plan best suited for building a schedule around your needs and lifestyle.
You can submit your availability to our scheduling department up to one month in advance. Your availability will then be submitted to your facility choices. Once your shifts are confirmed, we will reconfirm them with you. Because we receive open shifts throughout each day, please feel free to call us for updates.
4.3. Can Med National Staffing build my schedule with certain hours and flexibility?
Yes. Let us know if you want a certain number of hours per week or month, and have flexibility on dates or shifts, and we will help build your schedule up to one month in advance.
4.4. What if my availability changes?
We ask that you only give us dates you are sure you want booked. However, if you need to make changes to your availability, please call our office at your earliest convenience.
5. Cancellations (3)
5.1. What if I need to cancel a shift?
Please call our office immediately if you are unable to work a scheduled shift. MNS will contact the facility on your behalf. Please do not email a cancellation. You must speak to a representative to confirm a cancelled shift. Please see our cancellation policy for more details.
5.2. What is your cancellation policy?
MNS strongly discourages the cancellation of a booked shift. Once a shift has been confirmed on your behalf, MNS requires a minimum of 24 hours cancellation notice for all per-diem and contract employees. MNS policy states that a medical professional can have no more than three absences within six months to take advantage of advanced scheduling. MNS will make exceptions for emergencies.
5.3. What is the facility’s policy for canceling a shift?
If you are on contract with a facility and your contract does not state differently, then the hospital will not cancel or change a shift without your consent. If you are working per-diem, the facility has up to 1.5 hours prior to your start time to cancel your shift.
6. Offers / Requests
6.1. What is the advantage of floating, or offering to work more than one unit, when scheduling a shift?
If your skills allow, we encourage you to offer a facility the option to float you during a shift. This provides the facility the option to utilize your skills in several areas and maximize your work potential.
6.2. Does my pay change if I am floated to multiple units during a shift?
Possibly. Please confirm this with your staffing manager as some facilities offer increased pay rates in higher-level units.
6.3 Can I request a certain area, unit or floor when scheduling with a facility?
Yes. Facilities book shifts according to the specifics provided to them. If you request a certain unit, a facility will take that into account when booking your shift.
